Course Overview

ACLS is a course designed for health-care providers who either direct or participate in the resuscitation of a patient, whether in or out of a hospital. It is designed to teach lifesavers to initiate advanced resuscitative efforts in response to cardiovascular emergencies experienced by adults.

The ACLS course includes training on advanced airway management, major emergency conditions, electrical therapy, invasive therapeutic and monitoring techniques and special resuscitation situations

Prerequisites

New Students

Dear Student,

Please plan to be on time because late students will NOT be admitted to class. Students are expected to attend and participate in the entire course.

How to Get Ready

The ACLS Provider Course is designed to teach you the lifesaving skills required to be both a team member and a team leader in either an in-hospital or out-of-hospital setting. Because the ACLS Provider Course covers extensive material in a short time, you will need to prepare for the course beforehand.

Pre course Requirements

You should prepare for the course by doing the following:

  1. Complete the online pre course self-assessment and precourse work. To take assessment, go to Course Details sign in, Complete ACLS precourse self-assessment and Precourse work (not international). Must score 70% or higher. Print results and bring to class.
  2. Review and understand the information in your 2025 ACLS Provider Manual, (this book is not included in the course price).
  3. ACLS Provider manual is 2025 # 25-3100. 2025 ACLS provider manual can be purchased at Shop All CPR & ECC Products, ebooks are also available.
  4. Review and understand the information in the BLS for Healthcare Providers manual. The resuscitation scenarios require that your BLS skills and knowledge are current. You will be tested on adult 1- rescuer CPR and AED skills at the beginning of the ACLS Provider Course. You will not be taught how to do CPR or how to use an AED. You must know this in advance. We will need to see your current HCP course card the day of class.
  5. Review, understand, and complete the ECG and Pharmacology sections. You will not be taught how to read or interpret ECGs in the course, nor will you be taught details about ACLS pharmacology.

What This Course Does Not Cover

The ACLS Provider Course does not teach algorithms, ECG, or pharmacology information. If you do not learn and understand the ECG and pharmacology information in the precourse assessment tests, it is unlikely that you can successfully complete the ACLS Provider Course.

What to Bring and What to Wear

Bring your 2025 ACLS Provider Manual to each class. You will need your ACLS Provider Manual during each lesson in the course. You may refer to the Handbook of Emergency Cardiovascular Care for Healthcare Providers (optional), and you may bring it to the course to use as a reference guide during some of the stations in the course.

Please wear loose, comfortable clothing to class. You will be practicing skills that require you to work on your hands and knees, and the course requires bending, standing, and lifting. If you have any physical condition that might prevent you from engaging in these activities, please tell an instructor. The instructor may be able to adjust the equipment if you have back, knee, or hip problems.
